NZRDA is an association of 53 Member Groups. Groups offer varying service according to the needs of their riders. The three general fields covered by RDA in New Zealand are: Therapy and Rehabilitation * Education, Behaviour Modification and Social Contact. Horse Riding for Sport and Recreation for people with disabilities. Some Groups also incorporate Driving for the Disabled into their programme.Programmes Offered
Riding Programmes: each rider has their own individualised programme that they are riding towards. Audience – People with intellectual/physical disabilities Referrals Riders must: Complete a referral request and send this to their nearest RDA group; provide a medical certificate from their doctor; sign an agreement that allows them to ride, which includes a consent and medical release and undergo a therapist’s assessment.
